New Jersey: Federal OSHA for private employers, PEOSH for public

New Jersey is one of six OSHA-approved state plans where the state plan covers state and local government employees only. Private-sector New Jersey employers are under Federal OSHA — the SafeGora registry records a federal software route and retains NJ physical-state context. PEOSH (Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health, jointly administered by the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the NJ Department of Health) handles public-sector enforcement under N.J.S.A. 34:6A-25 et seq.; SafeGora's public-sector substrate for New Jersey is on the roadmap but not in this launch. CEPA (Conscientious Employee Protection Act, N.J.S.A. 34:19) is the New Jersey whistleblower statute for both public and private employees. Federal OSHA ITA support is not indicated by a capability-level public snapshot decision for this state. Onboarding selectability and a federal software route do not establish ITA readiness or live electronic filing.

How SafeGora handles New Jersey

  1. Software routing context

The registry records a Federal OSHA software route and preserves the physical state. This does not change the applicable regulator or establish filing readiness.

  2. Source context

The pack identifies federal source material. Authored sources do not establish that AI or written-program capabilities are ready. Chat answers use the workspace's headquarters jurisdiction, not each work site. State-specific depth varies; federal citations are the fallback.

  3. Workspace setup

You can choose New Jersey when you create a workspace.

What is state-specific

  • Federal software routing metadata; ITA readiness is assessed separately
  • PEOSH recognized as the public-sector authority (deferred)
  • Federal recordkeeping (29 CFR Part 1904) for private establishments
  • CEPA (N.J.S.A. 34:19) whistleblower context

Readiness

What is ready today

Marks below come from the pack-registry public launch snapshot embedded at build time. They are not a live control-plane certification check. Onboarding selectability does not establish individual capability readiness. Not indicated means the snapshot supplies no ready decision for that capability; it does not state a legal exemption.

Public-sector employer support for New Jersey (state and local government workforces under PEOSH) is a separate certification-gated roadmap item. Federal OSHA ITA support is not indicated by a capability-level public snapshot decision for this state. Onboarding selectability and a federal software route do not establish ITA readiness or live electronic filing.
